“THE ART OF WALKING: SEEING INTO THE LANDSCAPE”
AS PART OF WATERBURY’S 2016 WINTERFEST CELEBRATION
Saturday, January 30 @1pm
Grange Hall, 317 Howard Ave
Waterbury Center, VT
This event is free and open to the public
On Saturday, January 30 at 1-3pm, Nicole Grubman, author of I Left My Sole In Vermont: A Walker’s Guide and Journey Through Central Vermont Back Roads and John Snell, nature photographer currently with 3 exhibits in central Vermont, will speak about the power of taking inspiration from the quieter side of the landscape in an event for Waterbury’s Winterfest celebration entitled “The Art Of Walking: Seeing Into the Landscape.”
Ms. Grubman’s book is a different kind of guidebook with maps and descriptions, but also with adventure…”about the significance of moving and being who we are when we just walk”. John Snell cites Ms. Grubman’s book as a practice of a circular awareness and influence for his own unique nature photography and writes, “Nicole’s walks are part of my way of seeing the world…” on his blog, http://stilllearningtosee.com/
Author/Artist talk will begin from 1pm at the Grange Hall in Waterbury Center, 317 Howard Avenue, and be followed by a short loop walk on Loomis Hill Road, guided by Ms. Grubman and Mr. Snell. Attendees are welcome to bring cameras and sketchbooks and are invited (not required) to create a piece of art in any medium, inspired by the walk. Ms. Grubman’s signed copies of the book will be on sale for a discounted price, http://www.
