ART AT THE KENT presents VERVE: Art & Energy


Featuring over a dozen Vermont visual & literary artists, September 11 – October 4, 2015

Opening Celebration with food, drink and the swinging jazz of Cookie’s Hot Club will take place at the Kent Museum on Saturday, September 12, from 3 to 5 pm.

In this year’s exhibition, participants capture the intrinsic tension of line and color, revealing energy and visual vitality in a wide variety of works. Whether in concept or in actual presentation, selected pieces resonate with verve and reveal vibrant force. Combinations of materials, objects, and traditional artistic mediums are rendered in environmental sculpture as well as a variety of two- and three-dimensional pieces throughout the exhibition.  Featured visual artists include: Michele Ratté,Ethan Bond-Watts, Brenda Garand, John Haynes, Marina Epstein,Galen Cheney, Maggie Neale, Alisa Dworsky, Mickey Myers, the late Lucinda Mason,  Paul Gruhler, and Ashley Veselis.

VERVE IN VERSE: POETRY READINGS
This year Art at the Kent features a special series of poetry readings, VERVE IN VERSE, at the nearby Old West Church in addition to our exhibition at the Kent Museum. These take place on three successive Sunday afternoons at 3 pm:
September 13 – Kerrin McCadden and Ryan Walsh
September 20 – Major Jackson and Julia Shipley
September 27 – Karin Gottshall and Diane Swan
